Hi all... Malfunction are John McGowan and Chris Laverty. We made our debut as Malfunction on March 26th 1976....so our 45th anniversary is approaching!! If you don't know anything about our time on the folk circuit then the Our Story link will tell you who we are (were!!) and what we did ...and started to do again!

This web site will bring you news of what we are up to, but more importantly, gives us the chance to reminisce about the fun we had performing as Malfunction for all those years, allowing us to indulge in a little Nostalgia as we look back at the glory days of folk music in and around Birmingham in the 70s and 80s, the folk clubs that we either ran or played at and memories of some of the great musicians, comedians and friends that we have met and performed with over the years.

The photos section has a variety of pictures of ourselves going back to the 70s with changing hairstyles and fashions as well as a gallery of images of some of the many artists we worked with and had the pleasure of listening to.

We were never a studio band but we did tape many of our live sets on a little Sony Pro Walkman and some of those recordings are available on the site if you navigate to the Media/Songs section on the menu. You can also see some ancient videos of our Crescent shows either through the Media/Videos link or through our You Tube site.

To cap it all you can visit (and hopefully like) our Facebook page with the latest posts, videos and images as well as archive items from down the years.  We also have a twitter account so all bases covered!!

Please feel free to drop us a line through any of the social media or via the Contact Us link especially if you have any recollections to add or any long lost photos in the bottom drawer. Cheers and thanks - John and Chris.
